ANSWER KEY

Data Analysis

1.

Population increases steadily from ~5,000 (1970) to ~60,000 (2020). Growth is closer to exponential than linear because each decade increases more than the last.

2.

1970 ≈ 5,000; 2020 ≈ 60,000. Percent increase = (60,000−5,000/5,000)×100%=1100%.

3.

70→80: +5k → +10k; 80→90: +10k; 90→00: +15k; 00→10: +15k; 10→20: +15k. Largest increase: 1990–2020 decades. Smallest: 1970–1980.

4.

Without conservation: population stays at 5,000. Missing turtles = 60,000 − 5,000 = 55,000 turtles.

5.

Likely around 70,000–75,000 by 2030 if trend continues.

6 (Bonus).

1970:2020 = 5,000:60,000 → simplified = 1:12.

Area and Perimeter

1.

Perimeter = 60 m; Area = 216 m²; Plants = 216.

2.

Radius = 10 m. Perimeter ≈ 10π + 20 ≈ 51.4 m. Area ≈ 157 m².

3.

Side = 16 m; Area = 256 m².

4.

Perimeter = 46 m. Cannot find area because no angles or diagonals given. Need: diagonal length or height.

5. (Bonus)

Original area = 250 m² → doubled = 500 m². New dimensions (same shape): 50 m × 10 m. New perimeter = 120 m.
